
Having healthy diet helps in maintaining good health. Healthy and a varied diet can prevent the occurrence of several diseases including heart diseases, cholesterol problems, blood pressure, etc. The body needs a certain amount of vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates and dietary fibers. It is for this reason that one should include a variety of food in their diet.
Including fresh fruits and vegetables gives the body a healthy amount of carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins and minerals. Also they have low content of fats and are free of cholesterol. Intake of salt and sugar should be kept at minimum as they can be dangerous for health if consumed excessive. Dairy products like milk, yogurt, and buttermilk should be consumed in a very specific quantity as they give calcium, proteins and zinc. Calcium is required for development and maintenance of bones, proteins are required for growth and energy and zinc is required for tissue growth and repair.
Apart from the content of diet, timing of diet also plays an important role. It is recommended to have three meals a day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day especially in teenagers as it helps in their physical and emotional development. Fresh fruit juices have to be included in the diet instead of soft drinks which has soda in them.
Above all have lots of water in a day. Our body is made up of 75% of water. It helps in flushing out the toxins in the kidney and bladder. Remember a person has to be fit to enjoy his life.
